Y’all like the new podcast?

I haven't had a chance to listen to the podcast yet but Evan and I were happy to catch up with Bobby and mom at the same time last week at her house and get it on tape. We were all in the same spot for a few hours doing photo's for the next few cycles of mom's website. This is no small job. A great local photographer, her assistant, Brandon for the styling, Jamie for the hair, Courtney for the makeup, Libbie for all things beautiful in the food department with an assist from Becky, Jamie on video, various other hard working folks etc etc etc.
You know, a production. It took us the better part of two days and at the end of day two Evan swung by and we had to laugh....I said," Two hundred thousand dollar budget and two days for PD.com and all Evan I need is ten minutes in the bathroom with a laptop and a microphone for the deenbros.com". That 521 Media really gets the job done!
Two things: the budget is inflated for comedic effect and we were in the bathroom because it is the only quiet room in that house.
It didn't take but a few days for the winds to blow us away again, mom to Alaska for a nine day magazine shoot (work?!?) and Bobby to Los Angeles to see Katie's little sister's debut in the theater production of Rent.
Guess what I got to do today? I had a four hour review, the first of many such meetings , with an independent firm that did a company wide HR review on all of our businesses! Does that sound awesome or what?
It is actually going to prove to be a great tool for us as we strive to maintain the kind of business we started oh so many years ago.... only now with 347 additional employees. It pays to be pro-active and while there are some areas that need tightening I am so proud of our staff as we graded out with an above average rating. That's not bad considering the leader of this little business wore underwear (yes,clean) as a hair net in the early days of The Bag Lady.
We have pictures to prove it.
Hoffman Media is getting ready to release the third issue Deen Bros. Good Cooking and after the first two we were able to track some trends and consult feedback and in turn, made some additions and tweaks that have me believing this issue will be our strongest to date. Y'all keep your eyes peeled if you are looking for some great recipes for this tailgate season as well as some behind the scenes stuff.
Congrats to Jay, Renee, Jeff and the entire staff at "The Paula Deen Store" on three (3!) years of business last week....time really does fly.
It's hard to put a finger on my favorite day of the year but Tuesday of this week is pretty close. Yes, my season tickets for the University of Georgia Bulldogs 2010 football season arrived in the mail.
That's it for this week...no word from New York yet, stay tuned.

Just wanted to tell y’all we had a wonderful time in Savannah this past week. Eating at the lady and sons and Uncle Bubbas. The people at both were so nice and helpful. Sorry we missed all y’all! Well of course the highlight of your week would be your Bulldog tickets.
Yes, it is amazing what you can edit on a laptop now a days. Don’t need all of that expensive equipment to sound good anymore. LOL
Congrats on the great rating for the business. Prior to starting my own business. I was in the in HR and Payroll world. I had a bit more employees to handle(10,000) and understand how important it is to have the right policies and procedures in place that keeps the business the way you wish but keeping employees safe too. I kinda of miss that world. If the right job landed in my lap would probably go right back to it. Any openings with you PD??? LOL
Would pack up the family(dogs and husband) and move there in a heartbeat.
I seen that the production of Rent was directed by Neil Patrick Harris. What an amazing opportunity for Katie’s sister. Love it. I bet she was amazing.
Of course I will be getting the 3rd issue to go with one and two. I have made a few of the recipes so far and my husband was very happy. I am the griller of the family. I try to keep him as far away as I can from the grill. I don’t like to chew on shoe leather…LOL

Hi Jamie, I have been so busy I haven’t been able to keep up. I’m freaking out I missed an issue of your magazine, I only have the first one, I am laggin’!!! We are in the middle of moving, however, I do have my “Paula Deen/Deen Bro’s/Deen Family” shrine set up in a lovely display case Still have to rifle through boxes for silverware and sugar but I have my momento’s set up - I sit in the living room and look at it to relax (it’s true).
Love hearing about what is is going on and I keep checking to see when you’re coming to Northern California!

Hey Jamie!! I loved the podcast! Of course, I love everything that you and your family do!! I can’t wait to get my copy of your magazine when it comes out in September. I hope Jack had a wonderful 4th birthday. Give him a birthday hug for me! I have a hard time believing my daughter, Savannah, will be 5 in October. Time sure does fly!
