Happy Wednesday!
September 1st, 2010

I can't believe my baby turned four years old! We had a great party for a dozen of his friends at a jumpy place here with a dinosaur theme. Our friend Kate Petronis in Atlanta made him the cutest cake. She does the custom cakes in all kind of crazy shapes and themes and made a Stegosaurus that was sooo good. She uses the marzipan stuff but cuts it with marshmallow's and that way it shapes well but taste a lot better.

After pleading for a few month's he finally scored the BatCave. He is superhero crazy right now and could not have been happier so everyday I get the call to have a "Huge Battle" with the villains. He can't get enough...wonder where he gets that from?

Evan has been hard at work on the design of our labels for the BBQ sauce Bobby and I have been working on for the last few month's and it's looking good. We are going to launch with two flavors, a south Georgia sweet and spicy style and a Carolina yellow sauce. They are both delicious and we are excited to present our first Deen Bros. food products. I'll keep y'all posted on the release time and availability for anyone that loves condiments (like me!). This is good stuff.

Mom and Bobby are headed up to Indiana today to cut the ribbon on our next restaurant with Harrah's, the second "Paula Deen Buffet" opens Friday night. "

"But Jamie, why won't you be there too?", you ask. Because my friends, I am going to my favorite spot.....Athens, Georgia for the kick-off game of the University of Georgia Bulldogs football season.

Last year our good friends at Random House Publishing, who obviously do not live, breath and die by the college football season, scheduled our book tour over the entire fall. Bobby and I didn't complain. Much.

This year we are free and Jack is almost as excited as his dad to get up in the foothills to enjoy some cooler weather along with cooking outside for our tailgate parties.

Speaking of tailgate's, our latest Deen Bros magazine features some great recipes for y'all to cook up this season. We are also sporting a new look with more features and personality in this issue. It looks great and celebrates the joy of Saturday's in the fall. Y'all check it out and let me know what you think, we are doing for y'all after all.

That's it for this week, thanks for checking back in.....
Do good things-

GOOOOOOO DAWGS SIC 'EM

Life is great, isn’t it?  Enjoy these wonder years with Jack.  They are the best ever!
Excited about the BBQ Sauces.  Will be watching for them.
And, congrats to your precious mom on her new Harrah’s Buffet opening in Indiana.  Great location!  BTW, ate at the Tunica Buffet last month ~ absolutely de-lish…! Truly as good as my Lady & Son’s experience.  Y’all got those cooks trained RIGHT…!
Continued success!
Blessings from Texas

Jamie,
I can’t wait to taste you all’s sauces.  I hope they are available down here in Florida.  I called my mom in Ohio and told her to head over to Indiana to see your mom at her newest restaurant.  She is so happy that there is now a Paula Deen restaurant within a few hours drive from her.  I have a feeling she’ll go there quite often.

Hope you don’t mind, I’d like to put some of your recipes on my site http://www.gregkantner.com with full recognition to you all, but only after I have your permission of course.

Take care and enjoy the game.

Hey Jamie!
Happy Wednesday to you too!  So good to hear Jack had such a great b-day!  That cake sounds really good!  My kids have been going crazy for batman for the past year.  Anything and everything…Batman.
Congrats to you and Bobby on the latest venture!!  I love condiments too!  If we can’t make it to the grill, I make bbq on the stove top.  One thing I make is bbq chicken w/ sautéed onions/garlic and I smother it w/a ton of bbq sauce and all cooked in one pot.  It’s good!!  So, I’m excited to try out your new sauces!!  All the best w/that!  Congrats to Paula w/ the new restaurant!  Would love to make it to one of them, one day.
I went 4 days ago to find the latest Deen Bros mag., couldn’t find it but I will check again!
Enjoy the game!!  Have fun in Athens!!

Thanks again for the deen websites, mags, blogs and twitter!
All the best!  And Take care!

Hi Jaime,

Happy September.  This is a very good month for me and my sister as we are visiting Savannah later in the month.  Food Tour!  We’ll stop by The Lady and Sons again and Uncle Bubba’s (our 1st visit).  Looking forward to it and hopefully, we’ll see you guys around.  Missed ya’ the last time we were at Lady and Sons in 2005.  But we still had a fabulous time as the staff was GREAT and the food was more than plentiful, esp. the desserts.  Maybe, we’ll even be fortunate to have some fried catfish on the buffet.  In Chicago, our soul food or southern buffets always feature some kind of fried fish and chicken—that was the only thing I missed, not matter how full I was smile

Happy belated birthday to Jaime, Jack, Brooke, and Bobby.  Jaime, you and I were actually born a few days apart in 1967!  And my little sister was born about a month after Bobby in 1970.

Take care and continue to do good!

I’m going to order the Deen Bros. magazine tonight.  Looks good.

God Bless Y’all

Hey Jamie,

It’s good to hear from you.  I’m sorry I won’t get to see you tomorrow at the grand opening.  I can’t wait to eat the Gooey Butter Cake.  Have fun watching football.
Someone sent this to me in an email.  I thought it was cute enough to pass along.

Time does go by fast when raising children. Glad to hear Jack had a great Bday. Love seeing happy, smiling children. Just brings a smile to my face.

BBQ sauce cool cool cool. You guys just keep surprising us. Love it. Hard work pays off.

A new restaurant at Harrah’s! I can’t wait for the one at Cherokee. Will have to get my parents up there. My mom loves those slots just as much as your Mom. It is SCARY!!! Any news on a date when that will be open. Need to plan for my parents.

Glad to see you are going to the game. Doing stuff you enjoy is the key to not get burnt out from it all.

Take care and always the best to you and your family.

I can’t believe that Jack is four years old.  I attended Paula’s Cooking School at Uncle Bubba’s in March 2006.  I got the chance to meet the family.  I had the opportunity to get a picture with Brooke when she was pregnant with Jack.

I wish Paula would have her Cooking School again.  I attended one in 2005 and again in 2006.  I had the best time! It was a great experience.

I hope you enjoy the football season!

Hi Jamie,
Glad Jack had such a nice birthday.  I think 4-years old is the neatest age…..cherish every minute ‘cause he’ll be 5 before you know it!  My baby is now 35!!
Haven’t had any luck at finding the new Deen Bros. magazine but still looking.
Also can’t wait to try that BBQ sauce, esp. the Carolina yellow sauce.
Wish I shared your passion for football but I’ve just never been able to stay with it…...makes me nervous!  You make me want to keep trying though.  Glad you’re able to attend some games this year.
Nice of you to keep us updated on the family.  Thanks!

I have been checking the store every single time I go for the new magazine (I go to the store probably 3-4 times a week!) and am disppointed that they don’t have it on the shelf yet.  I’ve made many recipes out of the other two with great success.  I’m hoping you didn’t change much about it since I loved it just the way it was.  I’ll check the store again today!  Thanks for everything.  I love you guys and your Mom too!

Sorry—-I just have to get a jab in to you and Bobby (my DAWG friends) since we all love our college football. How bout those COCKS!!! It was a great day for Gamecock football in Columbia.  I know it was a tough loss for y’all. You know I’m a die hard Gamecocks fan but I do pull for the Bulldogs when they aren’t playing Carolina.  SEC baby—-all the way!!

If you want to buy a house, you will have to receive the mortgage loans. Moreover, my sister usually takes a consolidation loan, which occurs to be the most fast.
